What is me.uk?
me.uk is a new Second Level Domain that falls within the .uk Top
Level Domain. co.uk is also a Second Level Domain, but whereas
co.uk is intended for use by companies, me.uk is meant for individual
use. You would expect to find corresponding domains names such
as company.co.uk and individual.me.uk.
Who should register a domain name under me.uk?
The me.uk Second Level Domain is intended for personal use. Domain
Name registrations made under me.uk are expected to be made for
natural persons, such as Mr Fred Bloggs registering fredbloggs.me.uk.
However, it is possible to register any group of words under the

What happens after registration?
Once we have received payment for your me.uk domain name, we will
send you confirmation that you are the legal registrant. You must
check the details contained on confirmation carefully to ensure
that they are correct. If there are any mistake you should advise
us immediately so that we can change them accordingly. Your complete
details will then be recorded on our database which will make
it easier for you to make any further changes to your registration.
Will my details be made available publicly?
As the legal registrant of a domain name, your registration details
will include your name and a contact address. You may use our
contact address if you require some anonymity . This information
will be made public through ours and other independent online
WHOIS search facilities, which provides details of the domain
name, the registrant and their contact address. The UK Registrar
and ourselves have a duty to make this information available to
anyone who wishes to trace the legal registrant of a domain name.
It is your duty to ensure that we have up-to-date contact information
for you, so we can keep the UK Registrars database updated.
How long is my registration valid for?
Domain name registrations made in the .uk Top Level Domain
are valid for two years. After the initial two-year period has
expired, the domain name will fall due for renewal. You will have
first refusal to renew your registration by paying for it for
a further two years.
Who will remind me that my renewal is due?
You will be able to tell when your registration is due for renewal
because the expiry date is printed on your confirmation. Additionally
the UK Registrar will contact us for payment before the renewal
date and we will then remind you that your renewal is due.
How much will the renewal of my me.uk registration
cost?
We will charge our clients the standard charge for renewals set
at that time and we will guarantee that this will be no more than
paid for the first 2 years unless the UK Registrar increases their
charges by a considerable amount. It is unlikely the Uk Registrar
will increase their prices for Domain Name renewals as their have
so far been no increases ever, by any of the worlds Top Level Domain
Name Registrars since Domain Names first came in to existence. In
fact most prices have dropped considerably in subsequent renewal
years and we would assume that your domain name renewal in 2 years
time will be significantly cheaper than we now charge. |
